SOS Life Phone Saves Teen Hanging from Mapo Bridge in Seoul

A police officer who was trying to save a teenage student hanging from the railing of Mapo Bridge in Seoul was rescued after falling into the Han River.

According to the police, on the 9th, the Yeouido District Unit of Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul was dispatched at 7.24pm the previous day after receiving a report that “a woman was hanging from the railing.”

Captain Kim Beom-soo (32), a member of this district unit, held Ms. A’s (17) hand to save her while she was hanging from the railing of Mapo Bridge, and together they fell into the river.

The two people were immediately rescued respectively by an 119 patrol boat and a patrol boat from the Hangang police force. It was determined that there were no significant injuries or fatal injuries.

At that time, Ms. A was held by a passerby, and about 10 police officers, including Inspector Kim, were dispatched and conducted a rescue operation.

It was reported that Ms. A, who suffered from depression, attempted to make an extreme choice.
