UGT Madrid ha warned this monday that the ⁢new IRPF reduction proposal announced by the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, ⁤will have “direct consequences on⁢ the real capacity to finance” essential public services.

For ⁤the union, the debate cannot be limited to “whether paying⁢ less taxes is attractive in the short ⁣term,” but must focus ⁤on a fundamental⁣ question, which⁢ is “how collective rights are sustained in⁣ a region with an increasingly large social gap.”

This was stated in a statement after Ayuso announced a ⁤half-point ⁣reduction in the regional section of the Personal Income Tax, with its entry⁤ into ‍force planned for ‍2027 to ‍benefit 2.9 ⁤million taxpayers, mostly low incomes, according to regional government estimates.

UGT has ⁤underlined that the IRPF is the ‍main instrument of regional financing, which allows ⁣autonomous communities to “finance hospitals, schools, dependency⁣ policies, social services, public transport or housing.” “Each reduction in that section implies less income available for these items,” it has pointed out.

Thus,it⁢ considers that ‍talking about “tax‍ savings” ⁣without explaining where ‍that money comes from ⁢ is “a way of hiding⁤ the true impact” of these decisions. “Without ⁣tax collection, public services deteriorate,” the union has pointed out on several occasions, while underlining that tax cuts are not neutral but “have structural effects on the budget ⁣and on the⁢ quality⁤ of life of ⁢citizens.”

“The new proposed reduction means reducing half ‍a percentage point ‍the regional IRPF rate. Translated into simple terms: the Community will stop receiving around⁢ 500 million euros per year,” it explained, while exemplifying that it is an amount‍ equivalent to the annual budget of several public ‍hospitals, to thousands of ⁤teaching ⁣positions or to part of the dependency care policies.

UGT Madrid considers “misleading” prese

The UGT union has ⁣warned about the‍ “mirage” of the tax cut implemented ⁤by the Community of ‍Madrid, ‍led by Isabel Díaz Ayuso. According to the union, this measure will result in a reduction of 500 million euros for essential public services such as healthcare and education.

The⁣ UGT⁣ argues that ⁢the tax cut, while‍ presented as a benefit for citizens, will ⁣ultimately lead⁤ to ⁤a decrease in funding for vital social programs. Thay criticize the decision as⁤ a prioritization of tax relief for higher earners over the needs of the general population.

Specifically, the union points out that the 500 million euro reduction will directly impact the budgets allocated to healthcare and education, perhaps⁢ leading ⁢to cuts⁤ in services, staff shortages, and a decline in the quality of public education and healthcare.

The UGT’s statement comes as part of a broader debate about the economic policies of the Community of‍ Madrid and ‍their impact on public services. The union calls for a more equitable distribution of resources and ⁢a focus ‍on strengthening public services ⁣rather than implementing tax cuts⁢ that benefit only a select few.
