A Cañiza Fire Points to Deliberate Arson

The forest fire that erupted in the pontevedrés municipality of A Cañiza, specifically in the parish of O Couto, has already scorched an estimated 300 hectares. The Xeral Directorate of Emergence issued an ‘Es-Alert’ message, advising residents in seven populated areas to confine themselves to their homes. Fortunately, this confinement was lifted early on Thursday morning as the situation improved.

Following a positive evolution on Thursday, the fire in Ávila has seen favorable progress, with no active flames reported along its 25-kilometer perimeter. Approximately 2,200 hectares have been affected by this blaze. As of Friday morning, the situation is being managed with meticulous “meter by meter” jobs, as confirmed by the Junta de Castilla y León. This careful approach aims to ensure the complete control and eventual extinguishment of the fire.

Las Hurdes Fire Stabilized, Highlighting Resilience

In the Cacereña de las Hurdes region, the forest fire that had been a major concern has now evolved “favorably,” with 80 percent of its perimeter stabilized as of late Thursday. A significant milestone was reached with the stabilization of the Avellanar area, which had been the most critical point of concern.Abel Bautista, the Minister of Presidency, Interior and Social Dialog, shared these positive updates during a press conference following a Cecopi meeting at the advanced command post in caminomorisco. According to the latest data,this fire has calcined a substantial 2,775 hectares across an area spanning 34.5 kilometers. the prosperous stabilization efforts in Las Hurdes demonstrate the dedication and effectiveness of the firefighting teams on the ground.
