At around 2:30pm today, a taxi collided with a pedestrian and five vehicles on a side road in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, killing one person and injuring four others.
In the accident, a man in his 20s died while crossing the intersection, and the driver and four passengers in the vehicle that had an accident suffered minor injuries.
A taxi driver in his 70s told a police investigation that “the vehicle accelerated suddenly”.
The police confirmed that the taxi’s brake system did not work on the downhill road and they are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
