Kozhikode: In the controversial logging case, IFS officer NT Sajan tried to entrap forest officials in favor of Anto Augustine and Roji Augustine, fully aware that the Augustine brothers were the main culprits in the looting case. Sajan will appear before the court on February 8 after the forest department registered a case against them.

According to phone call records, NT Sajan had spoken to Anto Augustine 12 times for about an hour on February 15, when he lodged a ‘kidnapping’ report against forest officials in connection with the felling of a tree from private land on Manikunnu Hill. According to a report submitted by APCCF Rajesh Raveendran, Sajan and Anto were contacted 86 times between February 14 and May 26. The conversation took place between the official phone and the personal phone of the IFS officer. There are also conversations lasting more than 70 minutes.

According to Rajesh Raveendran’s report, Sajan was involved in the 14 cubic meter smuggling case registered as OR1 / 2021 at the Meppadi Forest Range Office on February 8. According to the report, a Kozhikode-based journalist is linking Anto, Roji and Sajan. The report also details that the brothers spoke to the journalist 119 times between February 1 and May 31.

On February 10, a journalist had contacted the Kozhikode Flying Squad DFO on February 10 to file a case for cutting down a tree on private land in Manikunnu hill. On the same day, Anto Augustine contacted the journalist 5 times. Sajan came to Wayanad to check the confidential information provided by Anto Augustine. He did not dare to verify the veracity of the information received in connection with the Revenue and Forest authorities.

The driver testified that Sajan had been traveling with Anto Augustine in the car for about an hour on the morning of the 15th. Some documents were given to Sajan by Anto. According to Rajesh Raveendran’s report, Anto and four others accompanied Sajan when he went to inspect his private land on Manikunnu hill after that. The Chief Minister’s Office has directed that the action against the officer should be confined to relocation by concealing such a serious report.
