After a four-year wait, Spotify users may soon experience lossless streaming. Hints of the feature have surfaced, suggesting a potential launch in the near future.
Spicetify,a Spotify client customization tool,reported finding hidden mentions of lossless in a new Spotify version. Screenshots shared by Spicetify show “lossless” appearing in device connection sidebars and as a streaming quality option. The account also indicated code suggests lossless compatibility wiht Spotify Connect and the web player.
While Spotify lossless streaming remains unavailable, these discoveries, coupled with recent reports, indicate progress toward its long-awaited arrival.
Spotify initially announced a “Spotify HiFi” tier in 2021, with a planned launch that year. Though, the launch never materialized. In 2024, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek mentioned a “deluxe” version of Spotify in advancement.
