Spotify to Qobuz: Easily Transfer Your Playlists in 2024

by Lisa Park - Tech Editor

Music fans continue to ditch Spotify; its price increases, perceived poor payments to artists, controversial decisions from leadership, and the introduction of AI features are all driving subscribers to alternative streaming services, with Qobuz emerging as a particularly popular choice.

Qobuz is a well-established streaming service offering a substantial library of high-quality music. Unlike some competitors, it prioritizes a streamlined experience, avoiding a cluttered interface filled with extraneous features. It’s designed for music enthusiasts who want to fully appreciate the nuances of their favorite songs.

If you’re a Spotify user considering a switch, the prospect of losing your carefully curated playlists can be daunting. Fortunately, that doesn’t have to be the case. Transferring your mixes and lists is a straightforward process.

How to Switch Your Music from Spotify to Qobuz

Here’s a step-by-step guide to seamlessly move your music from Spotify to Qobuz.

Tools & Requirements

  • A PC, phone, or other smart device
  • A Spotify account
  • A Qobuz account

Quick Steps

  • Set up Soundiiz
  • Connect your Spotify and Qobuz accounts within Soundiiz
  • Select your playlists and initiate the transfer
  • Find your music in Qobuz

Setting up Soundiiz

While the process can be completed on a smartphone, performing the transfer on a computer is generally recommended. Ensure you are logged into both your Spotify and Qobuz accounts before beginning. You’ll need a third-party service to facilitate the transfer: Soundiiz. Qobuz officially recommends Soundiiz for this purpose. The service is available here and offers a free basic plan. This tier allows transferring playlists with up to 200 tracks and limits the number of playlists that can be moved simultaneously. If you have an extensive music library, a paid subscription might be worthwhile.

Within Soundiiz, you’ll need to connect both your Spotify and Qobuz accounts. Successful connection is indicated by a list of all your playlists appearing on the screen.

Transferring Your Playlists

Click the ‘Transfer’ button on the left side of the playlist list within Soundiiz.

Next, select Spotify as the source platform and Qobuz as the destination. Then, click the prominent green ‘Start’ button.

You’ll then be presented with options for what to transfer. The basic plan primarily supports playlist transfers, while premium subscribers can also move albums, artists, or individual tracks. Select ‘Playlists’ and then click the pen icon in the bottom-right corner of the tab.

This will display a list of all your Spotify playlists, allowing you to choose which ones to transfer. If you’re using the Basic plan, you can only select one playlist at a time, requiring multiple iterations for a large number of lists. Select the desired playlist(s), click ‘Confirm,’ and then ‘Confirm my selection.’

You’ll be prompted to review and potentially adjust playlist details, such as the name, description, and privacy settings. Soundiiz will automatically populate these fields with your existing Spotify settings, but you can modify them as needed. Once satisfied, click ‘Save configuration.’

Finally, click ‘Begin the transfer!’ to initiate the process.

Finding Your Music on Qobuz

The transfer time will vary depending on the size of your playlist. In some cases, the transfer may complete very quickly. Soundiiz will notify you of any songs that couldn’t be transferred, typically due to unavailability on Qobuz. Note any missing tracks if you wish to find alternatives, but Qobuz generally has a comprehensive music library.

Once the transfer is complete, your Spotify playlist will be available in Qobuz. To locate it, navigate to the ‘Playlists’ section within the Qobuz app or website.
