English professional soccer team Tottenham Hotspur advanced to the fourth round (Round of 16) of the League Cup (Carabao Cup) with a hard-fought win over Coventry City in the Championship (Second Division).

Brennan Johnson’s second-half extra-time goal earned Tottenham a 2-1 win in the third round of the 2024-2025 Carabao Cup at the Building Society Arena in Coventry, England on the 19th (Korean time).

Son Heung-min was substituted for Dominic Solanke in the 17th minute of the second half when the score was 0-0, and played for nearly 30 minutes, failing to add any attacking points.

Son Heung-min scored two goals in the regular league this season.

Tottenham, who last won an official trophy in the League Cup in the 2007-2008 season, are trying to win the trophy for the first time in 17 years.

Tottenham, who formed a starting lineup with 1.5 teams, showed a very disappointing performance in the first half.

Tottenham coach Anzhi Postecoglou made a change with Johnson replacing Wilson Odover in the 18th minute of the first half, but the performance remained the same.

Tottenham, who sought extra changes by sending on Jade Spence early in the second half and Son Heung-min and James Maddison at the same time 17 minutes into the second half, conceded the first goal to Coventry’s Brandon Thomas Asante. In the 18th minute of the second half.

Thomas Asante finished Norman Bassett’s cross from the left with his right foot, opening the scoring for Tottenham.

In the last minute of the game, Tottenham won by successive goals from the substitute players.

In the 43rd minute of the second half, Spence finished off the equalizer after running after Dejan Kulusevski’s penetration pass.

In the 47th minute of the second half, after receiving a forward pass from Rodrigo Bentancourt, Johnson calmly fired a right-footed shot in a 1-on-1 situation with the goalkeeper, scoring a golden comeback goal.

Tottenham’s opponents in the round of 16 will be determined by a draw on the 25th
