The V4.3 update introduces standard IP-based OSC connectivity that allows broadcasters to map the System T feature set to any OSC-compliant hardware controller or third-party device. According to Solid State Logic Product Manager Berny Carpenter, the integration addresses the growing demand for flexibility in distributed workflows. Broadcasters frequently require remote operators to manage specific elements of an audio chain without needing full console hardware or a dedicated SSL setup.
System T already permits the interconnection of multiple control surfaces, and SSL’s fully-featured Tempest Control App (TCA) likewise delivers exhaustive management of any DSP engine, whether in a studio or at a remote site. Yet, with distributed workflows growing increasingly prevalent, remote operators frequently require only a restricted level of control to oversee particular components of the audio chain.

The OSC integration enables direct third-party control over a broad range of parameters. Users can manage faders, mutes, PFL, AFL, and path labels. Furthermore, the system expands into SSL’s established Event Manager feature set.
Expanded Control and Event Management Features
Native support for OSC inputs and outputs within Event Manager allows operators to trigger and respond to events alongside traditional control signals such as MIDI, Ember+, and GPIO. According to the company’s release details, native OSC support for scene automation also permits scenes to be fired directly by number, simplifying snapshot-style recall for live entertainment and broadcast environments.
The V4.3 update also introduces external microphone preamp control for SSL’s Net I/O ecosystem. Users can now set the gain of any SSL preamp through the Tempest Control App utilizing OSC messages. Throw-down systems are easier to deploy in venues where remote operators require basic functionality like console monitor controls or access to select local faders via a compact hardware controller.
Additional Platform Updates at IBC
Alongside OSC integration, Solid State Logic rolled out updates to the System T meter bridge and bussing structures. The S500 and S500m consoles gain a follow active fader bank option, which provides dynamic metering for varied combinations of sources and surface layouts.
Operators can now incorporate SSL’s Bus Compressor Effect Meter directly onto the meter bridge. This addition lets engineers monitor dynamic range continuously without shifting their focus away from the main console surface.
To support large-scale theatrical and broadcast productions that demand higher bus counts, System T V4.3 extends the platform’s bussing architecture. Track buses now support independent per-channel send level flexibility, matching the capabilities previously reserved for stem and aux buses.
The software update incorporates features from SSL’s Live console ecosystem, including Permanent Path Linking and SolidPitch. Permanent Path Linking allows users to establish up to 48 permanent link groups between paths while maintaining independent filters. Additionally, showfile capacity has been expanded to support up to 500 scenes, catering to the requirements of complex theatrical productions and live broadcast entertainment.
