The UEFA Champions League season 2024-25 continued on September 18, with Manchester City hosting Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium. The home team, led by Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and Rodri, faced off against the visiting team’s Markus Thuram, Mehdi Taremi, and Nicolo Barella.

In the 35th minute, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva passed the ball to Erling Haaland, who shot from the penalty area, narrowly missing the post. Eight minutes later, Inter lost possession in their own half, and Jack Grealish passed the ball to Kevin De Bruyne, who shot from a tight angle, only to be blocked by Hakan Chalhanoglu.

The first half ended scoreless, with Inter’s best opportunity coming in the 45+1 minute. In the second half, Manchester City connected the ball to the penalty area well, but Sommer made the save in the 69th minute. Inter quickly countered in the 76th minute, but Manchester City almost had a chance in the 79th minute.

In the 89th minute, Yosko Guardiol dropped the ball from the left side of the penalty area, and Ilkay Gundogan headed the ball from close range, but Yann Sommer made the save. Manchester City should have scored the winning goal in the 90+4 minute, but the ball sailed over the crossbar, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
