Los Angeles Rams owner Stanley Kroenke has become the largest private landowner in the United States, surpassing even the nation’s biggest timber and media dynasties. His holdings now total 2.7 million acres, according to the recently released Land Report. That’s larger than Yellowstone National Park.
Kroenke, who also owns the Denver Nuggets and Arsenal Football club, recently acquired nearly 1 million acres of New Mexico ranchland from the Teledyne family in December. The Land Report details this as the largest U.S. land purchase in over a decade.
The Singleton Ranches transaction involved land originally established in the 1980s by the late Teledyne founder Henry Singleton. It has as grown into a significant cattle- and horse-breeding operation.
This acquisition propelled Kroenke to the top of The Land Report’s annual ranking, moving him ahead of the Emmerson lumber family and media mogul John Malone.
kroenke already owned meaningful land holdings across multiple states. He is also the owner of the world’s most valuable sports empire, according to CNBC.
