Al Pacino as Han Solo
Al Pacino, fresh off successes like “The Godfather” and “Dog Day Afternoon,” was a major contender for Han Solo in “A New Hope.” George Lucas believed a star like Pacino would draw a larger audience to “Star Wars,” which otherwise featured a cast of relative unknowns.

Pacino, however, struggled to grasp the script and declined the offer, opting for more dramatic roles. Harrison Ford ultimately landed the part,rocketing to stardom. Pacino later joked that Ford owed him his career, but maintained he had no regrets about passing on “Star Wars.”
