Double World Championship: Celebrities Gather at Ringside to Watch Naoya Inoue’s Fierce Battle
A double world boxing match was held at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, with world super bantamweight four-organization unified champion Naoya Inoue (31, Ohashi) fighting against TJ Doheny (37, Ireland) for four belts.
Celebrities from various fields gathered at ringside to watch the intense battle. Guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei, actor Teruyuki Kagawa, a known boxing fan, and Japan’s national rugby team member Michael Leitch (BL Tokyo) were among those in attendance. Paris Olympics judo gold medalist Hifumi Abe and kabuki actor Ainosuke Kataoka watched the action-packed match from nearby seats.
Sumo wrestler Kirishima (Otowayama stable), a sekiwake, also watched the match from the first floor seats. This marked Inoue Naoya’s third consecutive world match to be watched live by Kirishima, following his matches against Tapales (Ariake Arena) in December last year and Neri (Tokyo Dome) in May this year. “I’ve fallen in love with boxing,” Kirishima said, revealing that he has become a “Naoya fan” after being captivated by Inoue’s impressive skills.
