Limak International Hotels & Resorts made a statement regarding the 120 euro ‘nationality difference’ fee charged to Turkish citizens who made a reservation for a hotel in Antalya via a British website. The following statements were included in the statement shared on the social media account:
“The need to make a statement has arisen due to a news about Limak Lara Hotel appearing in the media today. We want to inform the public about content based on unconfirmed information that deeply upsets all of us. First of all, we sincerely apologize to the public for the expression ‘nationality difference’, which caused misunderstandings. This goes beyond its purpose.” We are all deeply saddened by the use of the expression due to carelessness and without considering sensitivities. There cannot be any discriminatory attitude or behavior contrary to the concept of equality in the field we serve. The misleading reservation in the news was made on April 14, 2024, on behalf of 2 people from Turkey, on a website in England. When our guests arrived at the hotel, it was understood that 1 person was a Romanian citizen, the reservation was shown as if it was made from Turkey, and incorrect information was given. Thereupon, we informed our guests that there was a price difference. Such price differences may occur due to regional and seasonal campaigns. While the issue was the price difference that arose for this reason, the reflection of the amount as ‘nationality difference’ changed the scope of the incident.
