Amedama: A Pixelated Action-Adventure Game with a Twist
Amedama is a unique horizontal action-adventure game developed by Izanagi Games and Acquire. The game features a pixel art style and a fascinating gameplay mechanic called “soul transfer.” Players take on the role of the protagonist, “Youxin,” who must navigate through the Edo Shogunate period to find his missing sister.
Transfer Souls to Gain New Abilities
The most distinctive feature of Amedama is the “soul transfer” gameplay. Players can control the soul of “Youxin” to possess different bodies, including humans and animals. Each body has its unique skills and strengths, allowing players to access new environments and interact with various characters.
For example, possessing a small animal will grant players agility and stealth, while possessing a samurai will provide them with strength and combat skills. Players must first defeat the possessed object in battle before they can take control of it.
Investigate the Truth within 7 Days
“Youxin” has only 7 days to investigate the truth behind his sister’s disappearance. The possessed state has its limitations, and players must constantly move to new bodies to gather clues and progress through the story.
When the 7-day cycle ends, “Youxin” will die and reincarnate, returning to the day he was killed by gangsters. Players will retain their progress, including memories, clues, and intelligence, and can use this knowledge to make different choices and explore new paths.
A Branching Story with Multiple Options
The game features a branching story with multiple options, allowing players to develop the plot in different directions. By constantly trying different options, players can gradually uncover the truth behind the conspiracy and find their sister.
The characters in Amedama are designed by Lack, an illustrator known for his work on “Fate/Grand Order” and “Touken Ranbu.” The game supports Traditional Chinese and is available on Steam for 480 yuan, with a 10% discount.
