Steam Smashes Records: 38.34 Million Users Online as ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ Continues to Dominate with 500,000 Monthly Players
Steam Sets New Record with 38.34 Million People Online
Steam, the world’s largest sales and download platform for digital PC games, has set a new record with 38.34 million people online at the same time. This milestone was achieved on the back of the growth of the PC market in recent years, with games that were previously exclusive to consoles being brought to the PC platform.
The number of people online on Steam has increased by more than 5 million in just over 8 months, with the main reason being the rise of various unexpected dark horses this year. Although it is difficult to describe the performance of 3A masterpieces in 2024, there are many excellent indie and 2A games that have attracted a large number of players.

The most visited games on Steam include “Phantom Pallu” in January, “Bad Warriors 2” in February, “Dragon Doctrine 2” in March, “Content Warning” in April, “Hades 2” in May, and “The First Successor” in June. Other popular games include “Once Human” in July, “Black Myth: Wukong” in August, and “Banana”, which became popular through inactivity and exchanges.

The residual strength of “Black Myth: Wukong” is likely the reason why Steam has reached 38.34 million people online. Other factors include the stable number of people online for old games such as “CS2”, “DOTA2”, and “PUBG”, as well as the recent “DEADLOCK” test, the official release of “Satisfaction Factory”, the new season of “Decisive Hour: Modern Warfare 3”, “FF16”, and “God of War: Ragnarok”.
