Wider Layouts and Improved Media Viewing
Store pages on Steam have been redesigned with a wider layout, enhancing the presentation of game information. The update, initially tested with beta users, rolled out to the public recently, addressing concerns about cramped page designs.
Valve increased the page width to 1200 pixels, aiming for a balance between displaying more content and maintaining easy navigation, according to the official Steam declaration. The carousel now features “theater mode” - a large pop-up view – and a full-screen mode for trailers and screenshots.
Additional Design Tweaks
Beyond game store pages, Valve also adjusted the appearance of search results and recommendation pages to be wider. Store hubs,Steam Charts, and the News Hub have been visually unified for a more consistent user experience.
Users may also notice more colorful backgrounds on game store pages and within bundle detail pages.
Homepage Updates Coming Later
While thes changes are live across many Steam sections, the homepage remains unchanged for now. Valve stated they are working on “similar adjustments” for the homepage, but those updates are not included in this current release, as noted in the steam news post.
