SteelSeries Launches Premium Gaming Microphone ‘Alias’ in Korea – A Review

Premium gaming equipment brand SteelSeries launched the high-end condenser gaming microphone “Alias” in Korea last year.

Elias is SteelSeries’ first premium gaming microphone. Although it is a high-end gaming microphone, it is quite simple to use. You can use it immediately by connecting it to a USB micro PC with a single cable. Simply connect your 3.5mm headphones for real-time monitoring.

The product package includes an Elias microphone, a desktop stand, a USB cable, a boom adapter and simple instructions. The cable length is 2m, allowing for convenient installation.

Reduce noise and make your voice richer

Elias adopts a 1-inch condenser capsule, three times larger than a normal microphone capsule, to more accurately capture the voices of gamers and streamers. It is in fact a high-performance microphone capable of clearly picking up even the quietest voices. If you use the microphone nearby, the performance is good enough for creating ASMR content. Additionally, “cardioid pattern”, a front sound absorption method, is adopted to block surrounding noise and focus and capture only the sound in front of the microphone. Does not capture unnecessary sounds from the back of the microphone. Furthermore, the AI noise cancellation function can block unwanted surrounding noise. Noise cancellation can be set in detail via dedicated software.

Elias basically includes a stand that can adjust the angle. If you look at it, the stand is designed to raise the microphone slightly. This is designed to prevent shock, so vibrations, bumps or table shakes do not affect the microphone.

Classic design that goes with anything

It has a luxurious design suitable for a premium gaming microphone. Content creators, such as YouTube creators, who also use microphones as a support for broadcasts deserve attention. The dimensions are also compact. Its small size doesn’t take up much space on your desk, but its classic design makes it stand out. It is entirely black in color and fits well in any place.

The use is also quite intuitive. There is a hidden LED hidden on the front of the microphone. The sound absorption level is indicated via 5 LEDs. The louder the sound, the more LEDs appear, and the response speed of the LEDs is quite nimble, as the LEDs move on and off quickly at even the slightest noise. Thanks to this, you can monitor the volume of your voice in real time during the broadcast to see how loud or quiet it is.

Pressing the front mute button immediately turns off the microphone. It can be performed by lightly touching the touch button. At this point, a large X appears on the hidden LED. Thanks to this, you can prevent the transmission from happening without realizing that the microphone is turned off. It is especially useful for creators who conduct one-on-one broadcasts because the microphone status is controlled via the LED rather than via a PC.

Additionally, there is a volume dial on the front so you can adjust the monitoring volume. There is also a dial on the back, which is used as the microphone gain dial. An RGB LED is positioned at the bottom of the microphone. The light spreads softly in the direction of the support. The lighting color can be set via software.

Create optimal sound for content

Elias can be used immediately by connecting directly to the PC, but powerful settings are possible via dedicated software. Because it uses the integrated SteelSeries software, there is no need to reinstall it if you have previously used the SteelSeries software.

“Sonar for Streamers” provides a 10-band parametric microphone equalizer with AI Clearcast noise cancellation function. Up to five channels can be managed separately. It supports audio mixing, drag-and-drop routing and equalization control, providing an all-in-one audio studio and functions needed for high-quality audio production. Although it has advanced performance, it is quite easy to set up with a user-friendly interface. This allows you to set a high-performance microphone to the optimal sound for broadcast.

An ultimate upgrade for your broadcast equipment

SteelSeries Elias is easy to install and very intuitive to use. It feels like it was created with a true understanding of what the creators who are actually hosting the show wanted. Crucially, it captures even the smallest sounds, and the AI noise cancellation feature captures surrounding noise perfectly. The Elias, exceptional from design to performance, currently sells for 299,000 won. It is suitable for those who want a microphone with solid performance or who want to properly upgrade their broadcast system. Steel Series Elias is covered by a free 2-year warranty from M&Works, the official importer of Steel Series.
