The King’s Path: A Royal Road with a Scary yet Charming Journey
For those who crave not only beautiful sights but also spiritual and charming journeys, the King’s Path is a must-visit destination. This path, also known as the King’s Way, has a rich history behind its name. In 1921, King Alphonsa XIII visited this place to cross the difficult path and experience the joy of this journey, which led to the path being named in his honor.
Located at a height of one hundred meters, with a width of only one meter and a length of three kilometers, the King’s Path is an adventure-seeker’s paradise. Many tourists have described overcoming this distance as very interesting, despite being scary when looking down from the heights. The path’s construction began in 1901 and took four years to complete, finishing in 1905. Initially used as a service road during the construction of the canal, the road was closed in 2001 due to safety reasons and later reopened in 2015.

As the number of tourists increased, the authorities built wire fences to ensure the safety of travelers. The path passes through gorges, with a river flowing below, and features one of the seven caves built in the Neolithic era. This cave, protected by the Archaeological Department, is approximately seven thousand years old, with historical records testifying to its age. While the path can be scary, it also offers a unique opportunity to experience history and enjoy breathtaking views.
