Yven Bergwijn on Joining Al-Ittihad: A New Challenge in the Saudi League
Dutch footballer Yven Bergwijn, who recently made the move from Ajax to Al-Ittihad, has shared his thoughts on the transfer negotiations and the experience of joining his new team.
In an interview with ESPN, Bergwijn expressed his happiness about the move, despite initial reservations about leaving Ajax. ”I didn’t have to leave the Dutch team, but you have to think about yourself,” he said. “It was a great step, and I’m happy to be playing in the Saudi league.”
Bergwijn views his move to Al-Ittihad as a significant challenge, citing the presence of many talented players in the Saudi League. “Going to Al-Ittihad Club is a great challenge,” he said. “We see a lot of good players going to the Saudi League, and it will be a great adventure after taking part in big football events.”
Regarding the transfer process, Bergwijn recalled receiving a message about the need for a medical examination, which ultimately led to the completion of the deal. “I received a message in the morning that it was tiring for Ajax to provide an option to go to the hospital for a medical examination, but things were finally done,” he said.
