On the 6th, Real Madrid lost to AC Milan in the 4th match of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) league stage of the 2024–2025 season held at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain.
Real Madrid, who suffered their second defeat in the UCL, recorded 2 wins and 2 losses and dropped to 17th place in the league. Even still considering the number of games played, this is a staggering ranking for last season’s winning team.
Real Madrid lost 0-4 in ‘El Clasico’ against Barcelona on 27th of last month. They later caused controversy by boycotting the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony as their player Vinicius Junior did not win the award. Accordingly, a change of environment was necessary to win this game, but it was not successful.
The first goal in the game came from Milan. Malik Chiau scored a header from a corner kick in the 12th minute of the first half.
Real Madrid also counter-attacked. 20 minutes into the first half, Vinicius scored his own penalty kick to bring the game back to square one.
Milan made a comeback by scoring in the 39th minute of the first half without overcoming the opponent’s mistakes. Milan intercepted Chowmani’s missed pass and started a counter-attack and Morata succeeded in scoring.
Milan increased the score in the 28th minute of the second half. Tijani Rijnders scored with a left-footed shot from Rafael Liao’s low pass from the left.
After that, Real Madrid created several goal opportunities. However, he was unable to succeed as he was caught in the offside trap and the game ended with Milan winning 3–1.
