Diamondbacks Crush Rangers 14-4, Mets Defeat Blue Jays 6-2
Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez added a pair of homers to the Diamondbacks’ cause, Dominican Ketel Marte hit a home run and drove in four runs, and Arizona crushed the Texas Rangers 14-4 yesterday.
The Diamondbacks also took last Tuesday’s game, in this rematch of last year’s World Series, 6-0. In the final match, they beat Cody Bradford (5-3) early.
Randal Grichuk hit a two-run homer off the right-hander as part of a three-run first inning. Suárez added a solo shot in the second and Marte had his three-run shot in the fourth.
Adrián del Castillo added a three-run homer in the fifth inning and Suárez hit his second four-run shot, with no men on base in the seventh inning, to go 4-for-4.
Arizona (82-64) hit 13 extra-base hits of 13 extra-base hits during the season for a total of 16 hits. Catch up with San Diego in the battle for the first wild card ticket to the playoffs in the National League. Additionally, the Diamondbacks are four and a half games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
For the Diamondbacks, Luis Guillorme went 1-for-1 with one run scored and Suárez went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBI.
Mets Defeat Blue Jays 6-2
Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor broke Bowden Francis’ no-hitter with the tying home run in the ninth inning, and the New York Mets defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 yesterday.
Venezuelan Francisco Álvarez added a three-run shot and the Mets scored six times in that ninth inning. It was his seventh homer of the campaign.
