Subaru Launches the Fast and Stylish BRZ STI Sport in Japan

Subaru’s highly anticipated launch of the BRZ tS on July 24, 2023, caused a buzz among Pleiades fans in Japan. Joining the lineup as the BRZ STI Sport, the car retains its original concept while receiving an array of exterior upgrades.

The eye-catching exterior design begins with a striking Cherry red paint on both corners of the headlights and black paint on the side mirrors. Additional enhancements include glossy black 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires (size 215/40 R18). Accompanying the wheels is a Brembo braking system with larger calipers and brake discs. The calipers, in typical STI fashion, are painted gold.

STI also fine-tuned the suspension, utilizing Hitachi’s Astemo sensitive frequency response damper (SFRD). This adjustable shock absorber set aims to reduce overall suspension weight and improve precise control, especially when driving on racetracks.

Inside, the BRZ STI Sport boasts black suede-covered seats with Burgundy red trim, complemented by genuine leather accents. Dark metallic trim pieces add to the sleek aesthetics, and the signature red STI engine start button completes the sporty vibe.

Remarkably, the EyeSight security system is now available for the 6-speed manual transmission model in Japan, aligning with the North American market. Furthermore, the VDC stability control system has been upgraded to support higher performance, enhancing driving confidence.

Under the hood, the BRZ STI Sport retains its power plant, the FA24 engine. This 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder gasoline engine (BOXER) features DOHC 16 valves and AVCS valve drive system for fuel injection. With D-4S technology and direct injection, it delivers an impressive 231 horsepower (PS) at 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 250 Newton meters (25.47 kg-m) at 3,700 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, complete with a limited-slip differential.

Subaru Japan plans to offer the manual transmission model of the BRZ STI Sport at a starting price of 3,762,000 yen (approximately 914,184 baht) and the automatic transmission model at 3,817,000 yen (approximately 927,792 baht), excluding import taxes for Thailand. To showcase this special model, it will be featured at the FUJI 86/BRZ STYLE 2023 event at Fuji Speedway on September 24, 2023.
