Successful operation of a GaN-based blue photonic crystal laser with high power and high beam quality -Towards the realization of next-generation high-quality laser processing, high-brightness illumination, underwater LiDAR, etc. – – School of Engineering and Graduate Faculty of Engineering , Kyoto Univ

A group led by Professor Susumu Noda from the Department of Electronic Engineering, DE-ZOYSA Lecturer Menaka, Kenji Ishizaki, Associate Professor Kenji Ishizaki, Researcher Kei Emoto from Stanley Electric Co., Ltd., and Researcher Tomoaki Koizumi, investigate gallium nitride (GaN ) which is based on photonics that operates in the blue We have succeeded in high output, high quality laser oscillation from a crystal laser. This result shows that laser processing of plastic has been copper and carbon fiber reinforcement (CFRP), which is essential for the electrification and weight reduction of automobiles and aircraft, etc.3DThis can be said to be an extremely important result for a wide range of applications, such as high-brightness lighting for printers, in-vehicle light sources, and underwater (submarine) LiDAR.

This result was published on October 7, 2022 in the British scientific journal Communications Materials (Nature online magazine).
