The Sudanese Flag: A Symbol of Independence and Struggle

On July 9, 2011, I witnessed the historic moment when the Sudanese flag was lowered, and the independent Republic of South Sudan was launched in the city of Juba.

This moment was filled with lessons, tears, and a mix of emotions. Unfortunately, the southerners did not achieve the true salvation they had hoped for, as the war began between comrades in the popular movement, taking on a tribal character with massacres and atrocities.

The separatist northerners also did not achieve their goal of monopolizing control of the north with an iron central fist. Wars broke out fiercely in the New South: South Kordofan and South Blue Nile, as well as Darfur, which has been raging since 2003.

The War of Self-Destruction

The current war is a war of self-destruction for the central authority, with the Rapid Support Forces rebelling against the Kizan regime. The central authority was dealt the strongest blow in its history, with a direct hit in the heart, in the Republican Palace, the General Command of the Army, and the defense industry system.

This war can be understood as an immune disease that hit the state of 1989 AD, not the state of 1956. The human body is vulnerable to an imbalance in the immune system, which causes it to attack vital systems and destroy them partially or completely.

The Biggest Crime of Misinformation

The biggest crime of misinformation, deception, and fraud is the claim that there is a national struggle where one side defends the state and its institutional entity. The national state we inherited from colonialism on January 1, 1956, no longer exists.

The state of the Kizan, that is, the state of June 30, 1989 AD, was struck by an incurable immune disease. It is not a national state at all, but rather a complete and comprehensive undermining of the meaning of homeland and patriotism.

The Lesson Learned

The lesson learned from our harsh national experience is that the secessionist solution is not the answer to the center problem. Secession is not a solution for the regions that separate, because the leaders of the secession are simply warlords.

The true savior for the Sudanese people in all regions of Sudan is good governance that leads to addressing the crises and structural deficiencies in the Sudanese state, ensuring developmental balance, social justice, and good management of diversity ethnic and cultural, based on the idea of equal citizenship rights.

The most important thing that everyone must realize after this war is the impossibility of turning back the clock. They must be moved forward, which means moving towards a civil, democratic, developmental state.
