Super Corredora and Listenupshance Secure Breeders’ Cup Berths at Santa Anita

Super Corredora won the Zenyatta Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park on Sept. 27, securing a fees-paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1). The 2025 champion 2-year-old filly finished the 1 1/16-mile race in 1:42.93, winning by 2 3/4 lengths in her first start since March.
Ridden by jockey Joel Rosario, Super Corredora led at every fraction of the race. Majestic Oops finished second, while Rabeeba, an undefeated daughter of Curlin from the Bob Baffert barn, took third place.
The victory marks a successful return from a midyear mental break designed by trainer John Sadler. While Sadler considered a preparatory race toward the end of the Del Mar meeting, he opted to enter the filly directly into the Zenyatta Stakes.
Super Corredora Overcomes Gate Tension to Secure Distaff Berth
The race was not without early difficulty. Trainer John Sadler noted that the filly remained still a little tense in the gate and required specific schooling to ensure she remained sharp yet quiet before the start.
Joel Rosario reported that the filly kind of threw her head in a little bit sideways during the loading process. Rosario stated that such movements can cause a horse to miss the break, though he noted she ultimately performed well.
Sadler instructed Rosario to treat her as a free-running horse and to ride her into the first turn before adjusting the strategy, a tactic that mirrored her performance in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) the previous year.
Super Corredora is a daughter of Gun Runner — Super Simple, by Super Saver, bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds, LLC. She was purchased for $400,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by West Point Thoroughbreds. She currently races for a partnership including Spartan Equine Racing LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds, Robert Gardiner, and Michael Olszewski.
Listenupshance Wins Santa Anita Sprint Championship
In separate action on Sept. 27, Listenupshance won the Santa Anita Sprint Championship (G2) with a final time of 1:08.70. Ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, the 4-year-old gelded son of Shancelot led throughout the six-furlong race, recording fractions of :21.98 for the quarter-mile and :43.86 for the half-mile.
Listenupshance defeated a reduced field after the scratches of 2025 Sprint Championship winner Imagination and Ahrens. He finished three-quarters of a length ahead of the 7-10 favorite, Maximum Bourbon, who finished second. March of Time finished third, 2 1/4 lengths behind the winner.
The victory follows a previous win in the Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) at Del Mar, which had already earned Listenupshance a fees-paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1). Maximum Bourbon had previously finished a nose behind Listenupshance in the Bing Crosby.
Trainer Doug O’Neill, who conditions the horse for Run Fast Racing and Great Friends Stable, stated that the horse is just getting better and better.
Listenupshance’s career trajectory contrasts with his early valuation. A son of Shancelot bred in Kentucky by Al and Michelle Crawford Racing, he sold for $10,000 as a yearling and raced for $20,000-$25,000 claiming tags early in his career.
