Super Typhoon Pepito Forces Class Suspensions Across Metro Manila and Nearby Provinces

Philippines“>Super Typhoon Pepito Suspends Classes in Several Areas

Several local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines suspended classes on Monday, November 18, due to Super Typhoon Pepito, also known as Man-Yi.

As of 3:20 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Pepito made landfall in Dipaculao, Aurora.

Suspensions in Metro Manila:

  • All levels, both public and private:
    • Malabon City
    • Mandaluyong City
    • Manila
    • Pasig City
    • Quezon City
    • Valenzuela City

Suspensions in Other Areas:

  • Atimonan, Quezon: Pre-school to Senior High School, public and private
  • Baguio City: All levels, public and private; government offices suspended for half a day from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Baliwag, Bulacan: All levels, public and private
  • Cavite: All levels, public and private
  • Laurel, Batangas: All levels, public and private
  • Laguna: All levels, public and private
  • Lian, Batangas: All levels, public and private
  • Morong, Rizal: All levels, public and private
  • Nueva Ecija: All levels, public and private
  • Pandi, Bulacan: All levels, public and private
  • Pangasinan: All levels, public and private; work in government offices suspended
  • Santa Maria, Bulacan: All levels, public and private
  • Tarlac: All levels, public and private; work in government offices suspended

The Presidential Communications Office stated that class cancellations and work suspensions are decisions made by local chief executives. They consider advice from relevant government agencies and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
