The members of ‘Hong Kim-dong Jeon’ were unable to film due to Super Typhoon Saola

In the recent episode of KBS2’s entertainment program ‘Hong Kim Dong-jeon’, the members shared their experience of their first overseas filming in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, their plans were thwarted by the powerful Super Typhoon Saola.

Luxurious Accommodation and Unexpected Weather

Despite news of the approaching typhoon, the members were initially delighted to find clearer weather than expected upon their arrival in Hong Kong. They were accommodated in a luxurious suite on the 40th floor of the finest hotel in the city, offering a breathtaking view of Victoria Harbor. This extravagant room, worth 8 million won per night, boasted a white-toned bedroom, a large bathtub, and even a walk-in closet.

Moreover, the hotel surprised the members with its infinity pool and a renowned four Michelin-starred restaurant.

Typhoon Strikes and Plans Change

The members’ excitement soon turned into worry as the typhoon rapidly intensified. The howling winds shook the reflectors on the road, and it felt like even the palm trees might topple over.

During their lunch at the prestigious Michelin-starred restaurant, the members received real-time news of citywide closures. Jo Se-ho, unable to resist the temptation, hungrily finished the remaining food on their plates. Eventually, for their safety, the production team made the decision to retreat to the hotel.

Hong Jin-kyung was startled by the empty streets and marveled, “This scene feels like something out of a movie set. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

A Disruptive Super Typhoon

The super typhoon that hit Hong Kong, the first of its kind in 74 years, boasted winds of 160 km/h. Consequently, the production team had no choice but to cancel all filming plans, further complicating matters as the members’ flight was also cancelled.

Hong Jin-kyung lamented, “I had even prepared clothes for tomorrow, brought by my boss.” The staff members empathetically tried to help each other with spare clothes. However, with all the shops closed due to the typhoon, Hong Jin-kyung sighed, “I might have to buy at least a pair of underwear. This situation is truly troublesome.”

As the reorganization period began, the typhoon warning level was raised to the highest level, level 10. Joo Woo-jae expressed concern, “I hope viewers don’t misinterpret the situation. From the outside, it may appear calm and peaceful, but the soundproofing of the hotel makes us unaware of the severity of the storm.” This statement sheds light on the seriousness of the situation.

Jo Se-ho, feeling exasperated, questioned, “Why is this happening only to us?” The production team could only ask for understanding, stating, “Please understand that we have found ourselves in this unexpected and challenging situation.”
