The project proposal will then be submitted to the Cabinet for approval, followed by the bidding process in 2025. Construction is expected to commence in early 2026, with the first phase set to be gradually opened by 2030.

During the same meeting, Nirut Maneephan, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), announced that the SRT board had approved the implementation of the government’s 20 baht electric train policy for the Red Line Taling Chan-Bang Sue-Rangsit section. The proposal will be submitted to the Ministry of Transport for consideration next week. The required procedures for price adjustment, in compliance with The Fiscal Discipline Act’s Section 27, will be followed. This act mandates that any measures or projects affecting an organization’s income must have a plan or budget for expenditure, considering the processing time and the associated benefits.
