Surya next to Rohit-Maxwell on century record

Suryakumar Yadav seems to have adopted the T20 edition quite well. He created a flood of runs by arranging innovative shots. He created one record after another in this edition of limited overs cricket. Surya sits next to Rohit Sharma, Glenn Maxwell in the century record.

The first match of the three-match T20 series between South Africa and India was abandoned due to rain. South Africa then won the second T20I of the series in Port Elizabeth by 5 wickets in rain. India have no choice but to win the third T20 of the series in Johannesburg today to return to parity in the series. Batting first after losing the toss, India scored 29 runs for 2 wickets in 2.3 overs. Surya batted at number four after 2 wickets. He scored 35 runs off his first 29 balls.

A slow start saw Surya’s terrible form in the 13th over. Surya started with a six off Adile Phehlukayo through deep mid-wicket on the second ball of the over. Just off the next ball Surya hit short third man for a four. Then the Indian captain hit two consecutive sixes in the fourth and fifth balls. Suryakumar scored his own fifty and third-wicket hundred with Yasswi Jaiswal in the same over. In the 16th over, Surya was once again seen in devastating form. The Indian captain hit four, six and four off the first, second and third balls of the over bowled by Andre Berger. In the 17th over, Surya reached 90 by hitting Lizard Williams with two fours. On the first ball of the 20th over, Surya reached three figures by pushing Williams to deep mid-wicket with 2 runs. This is his (Surya’s) fourth century in T20 Internationals. He played an innings of 100 runs in 56 balls with 7 fours and 8 sixes. Surya sat next to Maxwell and Rohit for the highest century in international T20 by scoring four centuries.

Maxwell scored his fourth T20I century last month. He remained unbeaten by playing an innings of 104 runs off 48 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes against India in Guwahati on 28 November. Rohit was the first to score four centuries in international T20 5 years ago. He scored 111 runs off 61 balls against West Indies in Lucknow in November 2018.
