Suspension of the statistical fee for the AES states by Togo – Togotimes

The decision taken by Togo concerns lGoods arriving by sea at the Port of Lomé and declared in transit to Burkina Faso, Mali or Niger. Concerning its goods, Togo has suspended the statistical fee. In other words, this decision will allow Mr. Faure Gnassingbé’s country to garner more financial resources. A way to encourage economic operators from the AES states

to transport their goods to the Port of Lomé.

Decision. has been made public since February 19, 2024 by the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR).

What is the statistical fee?

It is a levy that is applied to import and export products. It is used to finance the country’s statistical activities, including the collection, processing and dissemination of economic and commercial data.
Initially set at 2% then reduced to 1% within the framework of the ECOWAS common external tariff, this fee, it should be noted, had been provisionally suspended since 1975.

The additional code 981 dedicated to the said suspension must only be used when lifting transit declarations (IM8) in the divisions of the Lome-Port Customs Operations Directorate (DODLP),” ordered Philippe Kokou Tchodie, the Commissioner. General of the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR).
