Ring in the New Year with Operetta’s Festive Concert Series
Get ready for a night of enchanting melodies and holiday cheer as the Latvian National Opera presents a special New Year’s concert series.
This December, the magic of operetta will fill three iconic venues across Latvia:
december 18th, 7:00 PM: Jelgava Culture House
December 19th, 7:00 PM: Ulbrokas Pērle Culture Center
* December 29th, 7:00 PM: VEF Culture Palace, riga
“The holiday season, a time for hope, wonder, new beginnings, and of course, love and gifts, is the perfect setting for our operetta concert,” says Atvars Lakstīgala, conductor of the Latvian national Opera’s Symphony Orchestra. ”Every listener will find something special in our program to ignite the spirit of the season and bring joy to their hearts.”
A Stellar Lineup
Prepare to be captivated by the vocal talents of Sonora Vaice (soprano), Anta Jankovska (soprano), Emīls Kivlenieks (tenor), Dainis Skutelis (tenor), and rising star Patrīcija Kozlovska (soprano), a first-year student at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and an international competition laureate.
Adding to the spectacle will be beloved dancers Ieva Kemlere, Zane Stūre, and Rolands Šteinbergs, accompanied by the Latvian National Opera’s Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Lakstīgala. The evening will be hosted by the theater’s artistic director, Agija ozoliņa-Kozlovska.
A Night of Beloved Melodies
The concert will feature a delightful selection of grand melodies, arias, and ensembles from beloved operettas.
Audiences will be transported to the worlds of Imre Kálmán’s masterpieces like “Maritsa,” “Silva,” “the Csárdás princess,” “The Gypsy Princess,” and “Bajadere,” as well as Franz Lehár’s enchanting ” Giuditta” and “The Merry Widow.”
The program will also include selections from Johann Strauss’s “Night in Venice” and lesser-known gems by the Anglo-Irish American composer Victor Herbert, such as “Naughty Marietta” and “The Enchantress.”
