Lucknow: Indian players PV Sindhu and HS Pranoy advanced to the quarterfinals of the Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament. In the second round, Sindhu defeated Lauren Lam of the United States to advance to the quarterfinals.
Sindhu’s victory was for straight sets. Score: 21-16, 21-13. The match lasted just 33 minutes. Former world champion and two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu is all set to win the women’s singles title this year.
In the second round of the men’s singles, Pranoy defeated Priyanshu Rajawat of India to advance to the quarterfinals. Fifth seed Pranoy’s victory came after a three – set battle. Score: 21-11, 16-21, 21-18.
