T-Mobile Fiber Internet Expands Nationwide After Lumos Acquisition
Updated June 03, 2025
T-Mobile is officially launching its T-Mobile Fiber home Internet service nationwide, moving past its trial phase. This expansion follows T-Mobile’s April acquisition of Lumos, a fiber-to-teh-home provider serving 475,000 households. The acquisition provides T-Mobile with the capacity to extend its fiber internet service to over 500,000 households across the U.S.
The move marks a notable step for T-Mobile in its role as a broadband provider. While T-Mobile Home Internet, based on 5G technology, has gained traction with over 7 million customers, the fiber service offers a different approach with perhaps higher speeds and reliability. The company aims to reach approximately 15 million households with fiber internet by the end of 2030 through acquisitions and partnerships.
T-Mobile Fiber offers four plans. Fiber 500 provides symmetrical speeds up to 500 Mbps for $75 per month with Autopay.Fiber 1 Gig boosts speeds to 1 Gbps for $90 per month, and Fiber 2 Gig offers 2 Gbps for $105 per month. The Fiber 500 plan includes a basic Wi-fi 6 router, while the 1 Gig and 2 Gig plans come with whole-home Wi-Fi 6 mesh hardware. Customers with a qualifying T-Mobile voice line receive a $15 monthly discount with Autopay, and all plans include a five-year price guarantee.
A limited-time Fiber Founders Club plan is available in select locations, offering 2 Gbps symmetrical speeds for $70 per month with Autopay. This plan extends the price guarantee to 10 years, and a voice line is not required for the discounted rate. All four plans include access to T-Mobile Tuesdays, providing perks through the T-Life app, such as MLB.TV subscriptions and discounts on dining and gas.
Allan Samson, T-Mobile Chief Broadband officer, said the launch delivers on the promise to bring better broadband to more people. He added that the new plans, backed by long-term price guarantees, are designed to give customers more choice and peace of mind.
What’s next
T-Mobile’s expansion of its fiber internet service aims to provide a viable choice to conventional cable internet providers.
