t3.com: Jessica Chastain Stars in Netflix’s Heartland, Out November 13

Netflix has set a November 13 release date for Heartland, a new country music-themed mystery thriller starring Oscar-winner Jessica Chastain, t3.com reported.

collider.com reported that Shana Feste wrote and directed the film, which is set in Nashville and centers on a former country music megastar named Misty Jones. Misty retreats into seclusion for an unexplained reason before returning to Music City when her niece, a fellow musician, goes missing. The cast also features Wynn Everett, Garret Hedlund as Roy Combs, Ross Lynch as Jace Jacobs, Carter Faith as Charlie Heart, and Jennifer Nettles as Winnie Jo Lean.

Nashville Underbelly and Supporting Cast Revealed

collider.com reported that Misty Jones used to be a country music megastar before walking away from the spotlight to live in isolation. That quiet life ends when her niece vanishes under mysterious circumstances, prompting Misty to explore Nashville's unseen underbelly where no one is who they seem. t3.com noted that Misty acts as a certified badass who suspects from the start that something is wrong, taking the investigation into her own hands because famous people do not simply disappear without a trace.

collider.com detailed the supporting lineup for the Nashville-set crime thriller, confirming Garret Hedlund stars as Roy Combs, Ross Lynch plays Jace Jacobs, Carter Faith appears as Charlie Heart, and Jennifer Nettles takes on the role of Winnie Jo Lean, alongside Wynn Everett. Shana Feste handled writing and directing duties for the project. t3.com added that the film will feature concert performances and that Netflix plans to release the official soundtrack before the movie premieres.

Streaming Debut Replaces Theatrical Release Ahead of Awards Season

t3.com reported that Netflix has scheduled Heartland to premiere exclusively on its streaming platform on November 13, bypassing theaters entirely. Skipping a theatrical release typically signals that a platform intends to position a film for awards contention in the coming months. collider.com noted that the upcoming Netflix role follows Chastain’s extensive screen career in films like Zero Dark Thirty, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and The Good Nurse, as well as television work in George & Tammy and Scenes From a Marriage, following the indefinite delay of her planned Apple TV crime thriller, The Savant.

t3.com noted that viewers will soon discover if Netflix’s confidence in the film and its soundtrack is justified when Heartland debuts on November 13.
