Taegeuk Pharmaceutical launches ‘Valen Tablet’, a treatment for abdominal obesity with herbal ingredient ‘Pungbangseongsan’

Taegeuk Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of LG Household & Health Care (CEO Cha Seok-yong), announced on the 20th that it has launched ‘Valen Tablet’, a treatment for abdominal obesity made from herbal ingredients.

Valen tablet is used as a treatment for obesity as ‘Bangpungtongseongsan’, an oriental medicine prescription written in Donguibogam. Its mechanism of action is to excrete waste products through urine, feces, and sweat, to remove swelling in the body and abdomen, and to facilitate fat elements by increasing metabolism and basal metabolic rate. It is effective for the symptoms that accompany high blood pressure (palpitations, stiff shoulders, flushing), obesity, swelling, and constipation, which are symptoms of patients with a lot of subcutaneous fat in their stomach.

The main medicinal herbs of Bangpungtongseongsan are Angelica, Peony, Cheongung, Yeongyo, Mint, Bangpung, Ephedra, Rhubarb, Mangowort, Gilgyeong, Golden, Gypsum, Ginger, Gardenia, Hyeonggae, Baekchul, Licorice, and Talc. Among them, rhubarb, mulberry, and gypsum facilitate bowel movements, helping to relieve constipation and waste products, and gypsum and baekchul are effective in relieving body swelling.

Valen Tablet is an over the counter drug that can be bought without a prescription in pharmacies. Adults: Take 4 tablets at a time, 3 times a day before or between meals.

An official from Taegeuk Pharmaceutical said, “Valen tablet can be especially useful for those who have a lot of subcutaneous fat in the abdomen and are constipated. It’s better to do that,” he added.
