Crackdown on Banned Polythene Continues Across the Country
A nationwide campaign has been launched to combat the production, sale, supply, and marketing of banned polythene, with authorities taking strict measures to enforce the ban.
In a recent crackdown, 21 companies were fined a total of Tk 66,100, and 4845 kg of polythene was seized. Additionally, a factory was sealed, and 14 mobile courts were held on Thursday to take action against those violating the ban.
In a separate operation, Executive Magistrate Sultana Saleha Sumi of the Environment Department led a team that seized 16 kg of polythene and imposed a fine of Tk 2,500 on four companies in the Malibag Khachh Bazar area of Dhaka city.
The Environment Department has assured that such anti-polythene operations will continue to protect the environment and public health.
