Eli Tomac Aims for victory​ at Thunder⁤ valley Motocross National

Motocross star Eli Tomac is set to compete at the Thunder⁣ Valley National in​ Lakewood, Colorado, marking his return after missing the past two years due to injuries. The four-time motocross champion and two-time supercross champion currently holds third place in ‌the 450 class standings, trailing leader jett⁢ Lawrence by 17 points.

Tomac’s journey to the ⁢top ⁤began on his‌ family’s 800-acre‍ ranch in McElmo Canyon, where ‌he honed his skills on a custom-built ⁤motocross track. His ⁤father, John Tomac, a mountain biking legend, played a crucial role in​ his ‍development, providing guidance and support throughout his career. The elder Tomac is the grand marshal ‌of Saturday’s event.

Despite ⁣a broken leg sustained in February, the 32-year-old‌ Tomac is confident ⁣in his ability to compete for the championship. He ⁤has a strong track record in Colorado, ‍with four previous professional wins, including a supercross victory at​ Empower Field in 2019 and three Thunder Valley National titles.

Thunder Valley promoter David Clabaugh noted that Tomac’s return adds to the excitement surrounding the 25th anniversary of the Thunder Valley National. Tomac himself expressed enthusiasm for racing in front of his home crowd.

“The comeback and the rebound have been really good,” Tomac saeid. “I’m looking forward to a better showing⁢ in Colorado…I get this natural lift and motivation, and the home crowd’s always great.”

John⁤ Tomac’s influence extends beyond coaching. jeremy Martin, a fellow motocross racer, praised John’s​ dedication and accountability, highlighting⁤ his role in ⁢Eli’s success. John, meanwhile, ​believes his⁢ son still has the drive to compete⁢ against the sport’s ⁤rising stars.

A victory at Thunder ⁢Valley would further‍ solidify Tomac’s place in motocross history. He currently ranks fourth in all-time 450⁤ motocross wins with 32 and second in all-time 450 ⁤supercross wins with 53.

What’s next

Tomac‍ intends to race at least ‍one⁢ more year, aiming to add to his legacy ⁤and compete with younger rivals like Jett Lawrence.The Toyota Thunder Valley ​National event schedule includes practice and qualifying at ⁢8 a.m., ‌opening ceremonies at 12:30 ⁤p.m., ​and first motos at 1 p.m.
