Hong Kong Airlines is considering⁢ expanding its popular pet-in-cabin service to additional ‌destinations, company president Jeff Sun Jianfeng said. the ⁣move comes as⁣ the airline experiences high demand, with‌ current bookings filled through mid-November.

The airline launched the ⁣service in February, allowing passengers to ⁤bring their cats and dogs into the cabin on flights to Tokyo,Osaka, and Nagoya. the service‌ costs HK$8,800 ‌(US$1,120) per pet, ‍in ⁢addition to‍ the owner’s ticket.Pets must remain in carriers under the ⁢seat ⁢during the flight.

Sun‌ said‍ the airline is also developing new family-friendly products aimed at toddlers, children, and the elderly. The goal is to position ‍Hong Kong Airlines as⁤ an “all-accommodating” carrier.

“We’ve been‌ brewing with this pet-friendly service idea for a long time as a lot of pet⁣ lovers treat their furry ⁤companions as family members and cannot bear to part with them when going overseas,” Sun⁢ said.

Sun added, “when we upgrade our services, we strive to satisfy our customers in all aspects. with this in mind, we ‌pushed for this pet-in-cabin product as the ⁢first and only such home-based service in Hong Kong… This also further strengthens Hong Kong Airlines as an animal-friendly carrier.”
