New Taipei Man Confesses to Murdering, Dismembering Father
A man in New Taipei City has confessed to the murder and dismemberment of his 87-year-old father, a case that unfolded after the discovery of the victim’s remains in a drainage ditch. The shocking revelation came after a month-long investigation sparked by the son’s initial report of his father’s disappearance.
Police began investigating when the 60-year-old son reported his father missing. However, the investigation took a grim turn when authorities discovered a headless and limbless body floating in a ditch along Alley 292 on Baoping Road in Taoyuan on Wednesday, December 8th. The body was later identified as belonging to the missing elderly man.
According to reports, the son initially claimed he had no knowledge of his father’s whereabouts. However, after persistent questioning by police, he confessed to killing his father and subsequently dismembering the body. The motive behind the horrific act remains under investigation.
The discovery was made after neighbors reported the elderly man had been missing for nearly a month. Investigators were able to confirm the victim’s identity through archived military fingerprints, despite the degradation of fingerprints on the recovered remains. A DNA comparison was also planned following an autopsy.
The son, identified only by his surname Chen, was arrested on Thursday, December 9th, after confessing to the crime. He is now facing charges related to the murder and the subsequent disposal of his father’s remains.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, with neighbors expressing disbelief at the tragic turn of events. Some family members reportedly expressed surprise, stating that the elderly father did not appear to be capable of harming anyone. “The old man wouldn’t think to do something like this,” one relative was quoted as saying.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the murder and the timeline of events. Police are currently focused on establishing a clear understanding of the relationship between the father and son and uncovering any potential factors that may have contributed to the crime. The case highlights the complexities of family dynamics and the devastating consequences of violence.
The discovery of the body in the drainage ditch prompted a thorough search of the surrounding area, as investigators sought to recover any additional evidence related to the case. The area was cordoned off as forensic teams meticulously examined the scene.
This case bears a striking resemblance to an earlier incident in New Taipei, where a man was arrested in August 2025 for allegedly dumping his deceased father’s body in a suitcase. In that case, the victim was estimated to be over 60 years old and had been dead for more than 10 days. The son in that case was also identified as Chen.
