(Central News Agency reporter Pan Zhiyi, Taipei, 20th) February Taiwan index futures will be settled tomorrow. Taiwan stocks rose today, with the intraday index reaching 18,756.33 points, a record high.

As of 10:47, the weighted index rose 76.24 points to 18,712.04 points, with a transaction value of NT$201.389 billion.

TSMC, the two leading foundry companies, rose 8 yuan to 686 yuan; UMC rose 0.5 yuan to 49.65 yuan; and MediaTek, a major IC design company, rose 13 yuan to 976 yuan.

News that driven IC giant Novatek to enter customized chips (ASIC) and Silicon Intellectual Property (IP) drove the intraday stock price to hit the daily limit of 605 yuan; Realtek also exceeded the daily limit of 517 yuan, further boosting the value of IC design stocks MediaTek followed suit.

Qunyi Investment Consulting analyst Liao Jianyou said in a telephone interview that Taiwan stocks rose sharply today, mainly due to the settlement of the Taiwan index futures tomorrow. Currently, many parties have taken advantage of the gains. In addition to driving up the settlement and driving up the index, Novatek has entered the artificial intelligence (AI) market. ) chip news drove the stock price higher, but in fact it accounted for a small proportion of revenue; Novatek’s news reminded the market that Realtek can also produce AI chips, further driving the rise of the IC design community.

Liao Jianyou believes that there may be opportunities today and tomorrow for the Taiwan index futures to rise and settle, but he does not rule out the possibility of consolidation in the future. (Editor: Yang Lanxuan) 1130220
