(Central News Agency reporter Wen Guixiang, Taipei, 20th) The latest season of the American reality TV program “RuPaul’s Drag Race” has come to an end. The crown was awarded to Nifeiya from Taiwan. She became the first Taiwanese drag queen to win the crown on the show. It also broke the so-called “Asian curse” in the series of competitions. President Tsai Ing-wen sent a special message of congratulations today, thanking Nifeiya for being brave enough to be herself.

Nymphia Wind, a drag queen from Taiwan, won the championship of the American reality TV show “RuPaul’s Drag Race” on the evening of the 19th North American time, breaking the show’s “Asian Curse” . Dubbed “the next drag superstar”, she happily shouted, “Taiwan, this is a gift to you.”

After President Tsai learned the news immediately, he also left a message in English to express his congratulations under the show’s Instagram post. The president said, “Drag queening is a very difficult performing art. Congratulations to Nifeiya for becoming Taiwan’s first queen to compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race and win the championship.”

The president said: “When you won the championship, you said: Taiwan, this is for you. Taiwan thanks you for being brave enough to be yourself.”

“RuPaul’s Drag Race”, which was launched in 2009, is one of the most famous drag art stages in the world. The 16th season of the competition launched on January 5. In the past three months, Nifeiya and 13 other contestants have competed on the stage to show their personal characteristics and charm.

Since the launch of RuPaul’s Drag Race in more than 10 years, only seven Asian drag queens have made it to the top four. Nifeiya won the championship title in the 16th season, which not only broke the “Asian curse” on the show, but also set a historical record for the first time a Taiwanese won the championship.
