Taiwan Takes Third Place in Williamsport Little League Tournament

In an impressive display of skill and determination, the Taoyuan City Guishan Elementary School Little League team emerged victorious in the Williamsport Little League Tournament. They secured a decisive 10-0 win over the American Texas team, clinching third place in the competition. This marks the team’s second time achieving such a noteworthy accomplishment in the esteemed Little League tournament.

Representing the Asia-Pacific region, the Guishan Little League team showcased their talent throughout the tournament. Unfortunately, they fell to Curacao, the representatives of the Caribbean region, in the international championship game – their first loss following three consecutive victories. However, the team from Needville LL valiantly competed for third place on the world stage.

Taoyuan Guishan’s ace pitcher, Fan Chenjun, received the crucial assignment to start the game. With an impressive 4 innings under his belt, he delivered 9 strikeouts and only conceded 4 hits, ultimately leading his team to victory.

Displaying exceptional prowess, the young Taiwanese athletes scored 5 points in both the 1st and 3rd rounds, securing an early advantage. Fan Chenjun once again demonstrated his remarkable “double sword style” skills, launching a powerful 3-point shot in the subsequent rounds. As if that were not enough, he further showcased his ability by contributing 4 RBIs and claiming a double safety in this game. Impressively, this marked his second home run in just five games.

A Record of Excellence

The Little League World League (LLB) proudly hosted the Little League World Championships in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Taiwan, a stalwart in the tournament, has an impressive record of winning the championship 17 times, with their most recent triumph occurring in 1996. However, Taiwan temporarily withdrew from the LLB in the ensuing year due to disparities in team formation and differing ideologies. It was in 2003 when Taiwan made their triumphant return. Notable achievements since then include a second-place finish in 2009 and third-place finishes in 2010, 2022, and 2023.

The Taoyuan City Guishan Elementary School Little League team played well today in Williamsport, USA. They defeated the American Texas team 10-0 in 4 innings earlier than expected and won third place. Won third place in the Little tournament League here for the 2nd time.
