TCG Akhisar – Powerful Turkish offshore patrol ship

In September 2023, the Turkish Navy launched the offshore patrol ship TCG Akhisar at the Istanbul Shipyard.

This is one of 10 ships in the Offshore Patrol Ship Project initiated by the Turkish Navy. Developed as a variant of the MILGEM-class corvette, TCG Akhisar is equipped with a new main propulsion system and has a different structure, helping to save production costs.

TCG Akhisar is a Hisar-class offshore patrol ship, designed to perform tasks such as intelligence collection, surveillance, reconnaissance, search and rescue, anti-terrorism, maritime control and other operations. special movements at sea. In addition, the ship can also perform electronic warfare missions, suppress land targets, defend, support and train amphibious landings.

Regarding technical characteristics, TCG Akhisar as well as other Hisar-class ships have an overall length of 99.56m, width of 14.42m, draft of 3.77m and displacement of 2,300 tons. Using the CODELOD main engine, Akhisar can move at a maximum speed of 44.4km/h, with a range of 8,334km. The ship can accommodate a total of 104 people.

In terms of firepower, the ship will be equipped with anti-ship missiles, a 2×4 vertical launch system to launch ship-to-air missiles, a GOKDENIZ close-range defense system, a 76mm naval gun and a small rocket launcher, capable of launching missiles. L-UMTAS laser-guided fire.
