TCL Nxtpaper 14 Review
Pros:
- Excellent for reading and sketching
- Affordable price
Cons:
- Limited processing power
The TCL Nxtpaper 14 stands out in a tablet market that has seen little innovation. It offers a unique “electronic paper display” that reduces glare and provides comfort for long reading sessions, making it ideal for use as a tablet and an e-reader.
This tablet features a 14-inch screen that invites creativity. A stylus comes included, enhancing the writing experience. The matte finish gives a more tactile feel compared to other tablets, allowing users to make notes and doodle with ease. However, the latency is not as sharp as premium options from Apple and Samsung.
The Nxtpaper 14 has three display modes:
- Full color – Bright and vivid for multimedia consumption.
- Soft color – Gentle on the eyes with muted tones.
- E-ink mode – Ideal for reading documents.
The screen’s 2.4K resolution is impressive, but its refresh rate of 60Hz may be noticeable while scrolling.
Battery life is satisfactory, especially in e-ink mode, providing up to seven hours of use. While it has decent RAM (8GB), the processing chip limits its capability for gaming or video editing. The sound quality from its four speakers is average.
The TCL Nxtpaper 14 includes front and rear cameras for video calls and comes with a 33-watt USB-C charger, a useful addition. While there is no dedicated keyboard case available, most modern Bluetooth Android keyboards can connect seamlessly.
In summary, the TCL Nxtpaper 14 is an attractive option for readers and sketchers, offering a unique display and good battery life at an affordable price.
