Tehran on the Move: Iranian President Unveils Shocking Plan to Relocate the Nation’s Capital
Iranian President Proposes Relocating Country’s Capital to Persian Gulf Coast
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has suggested that the country’s political and economic center should be relocated to the Persian Gulf coast, citing the need to be closer to major trade routes.
According to a statement made by President Pezeshkian on September 7, the current capital, Tehran, is facing numerous problems that can only be resolved by relocating the country’s central hub. “As the capital of the country, Tehran is facing problems for which we have no other solution than to relocate this very center,” he stated.
President Pezeshkian emphasized that maintaining Tehran as the capital is becoming increasingly impractical due to various economic considerations. “Iran cannot be developed by continuing the current trend. If we continue to bring resources from the south and the sea to Tehran, turn them into products and send them back to the south for export, it will further reduce our competitiveness,” he explained.
The proposed relocation plan would involve relocating all government agencies to the new capital first, followed by the opportunity for the people of Tehran to move to the new location. However, it remains unclear whether Iran will implement President Pezeshkian’s proposal or when the plan might be put into action.
