Edward Baker commits to Tennessee,Bolstering Offensive Line

Edward Baker,a highly sought-after three-star offensive tackle from Baltimore,MD,has announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee. Baker, a class of 2026 prospect, selected the Volunteers after official visits to several top programs.
The 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman from saint Frances Academy had narrowed his choices to five schools. Along with Tennessee, he officially visited Virginia, arkansas, North Carolina State, and mississippi. ultimately, the relationships he built with head coach Josh Heupel and his staff proved decisive.
baker highlighted the coaching staff’s role in his decision. Heupel, offensive coordinator Joey Halzle, and offensive line coach Glen Elarbee all played a part in securing his commitment. The coaches have been in contact with Baker as June 2024.
During his official visit to Knoxville earlier this month, Baker bonded with the staff and enjoyed the local cuisine. He also participated in recreational activities.
“Tennessee is somewhere I know I can get progress and get the exposure to play against the best of the best,” Baker said.
Baker also noted the strength of his connection with the Volunteers’ coaching staff.
“My relationship (with the Tennessee coaches) is great,” Baker said. “We’ve been talking as the opening (dialog) period for the 2026 class (in June of 2024).”
Beyond his finalists, Baker received scholarship offers from a host of other schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Boston College, Florida, Maryland, Miami (FL.),Pittsburgh,Syracuse,UCF,and Virginia Tech.
Baker describes himself as a versatile offensive lineman, capable of playing both tackle and guard. His addition brings Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class to 11 commits. The Volunteers currently rank 35th nationally in recruiting for the 2026 class.
