Tensions rise as eavesdropping device found in Ukrainian army office amid conflict and power struggle

Eavesdropping device found in Ukrainian army office amid tensions between top brass and president

(Central News Agency, Kyiv, 17th AFP) A bug was discovered in the office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Zaluzny, who has tense relations with Ukrainian President Zelensky, but the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said today that the device was Not Working.

Ukraine’s latest counter-offensive has failed to make significant gains in the east and south of the country and is struggling to maintain Western support for its war with Russia.

A statement from the Security Service of Ukraine said: “We would like to emphasize that the equipment found so far was not found in Valery Zaluzhny’s office, but it was only one of the workplaces that Zaluzhny could use in the future.”

“According to preliminary information, the equipment found was not in working condition,” he added.

“Currently, this device has not been found to have functions such as data storage or remote audio transmission. This technical device will be sent for testing.”

Ukrainian and foreign media have reported tensions between Zaluzny and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in recent months.

Zaluzny said last month that the conflict with Russia had reached a “stalmate,” an assessment rejected by Zelensky and the Kremlin.

Since February 2022, Ukrainian soldiers have been fighting against the Russian army that invaded Ukraine.
