The accident occurred in the evening hours in the Çay Geçit hamlet of Gözpınar village, on the Siirt-Kurtalan road. The car with plate number 72 KA 229, whose driver’s name was unknown, went out of control and overturned into the ditch. While the overturned car caught fire and started burning, health, fire brigade and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area upon the notice of the surrounding people. While the burning car was extinguished by the fire brigade, it was determined that 6 people, including children, lost their lives during the inspection carried out by the teams. One person injured in the accident was taken to the hospital and treated after the first intervention of the medical teams. The bodies of 6 people who lost their lives in the burning car in the accident were taken to the morgue for autopsy after the examination at the scene.
An investigation has been launched into the accident.
