“Creighton played an incredible match,” said senior outside hitter Madisen Skinner. “They were really aggressive and put us on our heels.We fought hard, but they deserved to win tonight.”
The Longhorns, led by the powerful hitting of Skinner and the steady setting of Jerritt Elliott, battled back from a first-set loss to even the match at 1-1. However, Creighton’s momentum proved unstoppable in the third and fourth sets, as they capitalized on Texas’s uncharacteristic errors.
“we made too many mistakes at crucial moments,” said head coach Jerritt elliott. “Creighton took advantage of those opportunities, and that’s what ultimately cost us the match.”
Despite the loss,the Longhorns can hold their heads high after a remarkable season. They finished the year with a 28-3 record, capturing their fourth consecutive Big 12 Championship and earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
“This team accomplished so much this year,” said senior libero Marianna Singletary. “We’re disappointed with the outcome tonight, but we’re proud of everything we achieved together.”
